Vintage holster and belt

We may not think of fine wines very often when talking about concealed carry holsters, but just like fine wine pairs well with certain food, fine leather holsters pair well with the matching belt. No, it’s not all about the fashion statement. It’s more about function. But why not look good while protecting yourself?

Normally, I just review holsters, but Versacarry was generous enough to send me the matching belt (accessories make the outfit, after all) so I could review them together.

If you read my reviews often, you’ll know I am not typically a big fan of leather belts, especially for concealed carry, because most concealed-carry holsters are IWB (Inside the Waistband), the worst application for leather since the mouth closes under pressure from your pants when the gun is removed. That’s a big no-no in my book because when that happens, you can’t reholster your gun with one hand. But I do like leather for some OWB (Outside the Waistband) concealed carry. Sure, Kydex is stiffer, but a good-quality OWB leather holster can work just as well. It depends on how it's made.

Versacarry Vintage Series Luna Holster Key Features

The Versacarry Vintage Series Luna Holster's exquisite vintage leather finish stands out. Crafted from top-grain water buffalo leather, it retains style while maintaining durability. The holster pocket accommodates various compact and subcompact handguns, providing a snug fit for most popular models.

My everyday carry gun is a Smith & Wesson Shield 9mm, which fit perfectly into the Luna holster. My Springfield Hellcat Pro, a tough gun to find holsters for, also fit perfectly. These two guns are dissimilar enough that I figured they wouldn’t both fit. Sometimes it’s nice to be wrong.

The Underground Carry Belt complements the Luna Holster with its similar pattern. Like the holster, the belt is made from high-quality water buffalo leather and is sturdy and flexible, ensuring long-lasting use. Its sleek, low-profile buckle minimizes printing, enhances overall discretion, and is easy to use. Oh, and they are both made in Texas, where they know a thing or two about crafting great leather products.

Quality and Craftsmanship

The Versacarry Vintage Series Luna Holster and Underground Carry Belt boast impeccable craftsmanship. The attention to detail in the stitching, edges, and overall construction is evident, showcasing the brand's commitment to producing top-notch carry gear. The genuine leather in both products exudes luxury and durability, reflecting their long-lasting quality.

Versacarry's dedication to perfection is evident in the flawless finish of the leather, ensuring that the holster and belt age gracefully over time. With proper care, they develop a unique patina, adding to their vintage appeal.

Concealment, Comfort, and Looks

The combination of the Luna Holster's slim profile and the Underground Carry Belt's low-profile buckle allows for excellent concealment. When worn under appropriate clothing, the gear virtually disappears, maintaining the element of surprise and ensuring the firearm remains hidden from sight.

One of the most crucial aspects of any concealed carry gear is its performance in real-world situations. The Luna Holster impresses in this regard, offering excellent retention and a smooth draw.

The holster's leather construction conforms to the wearer's body over time, enhancing comfort during extended periods of wear. The absence of hard edges eliminates discomfort and chafing commonly associated with many other holsters.

I wore mine several days in a row under a rather generous shirt, and the low profile design of the holster kept it well hidden. Because it’s a short holster design for compact firearms, it didn’t peek out from under the edge of the shirt. Was it comfortable? What if I told you I almost forgot I was wearing a gun? Yeah, it was that comfortable.

From an aesthetic standpoint, the Vintage Series Luna Holster and Underground Carry Belt make a striking duo. The vintage leather finish evokes a timeless style, making them a fashionable choice for those who prioritize function and appearance.

Final Verdict

The Versacarry Vintage Series Luna Holster and Underground Carry Belt impress with their exceptional performance, comfort, and craftsmanship. Versacarry's commitment to using high-quality materials and dedication to detail sets these products apart from its competitors.

At $49.99 for the holster and $69.99 for the belt, you can afford to get them both for not a lot more than a holster alone from many of Versacarry’s competitors.
