Browning added two new safe models to its ProSteel safe line in 2017, offering the Pistol Vault Portable and the Pistol Vault 900 to consumers.

The new Pistol Vault Portable provides handgun owners with an easy-to-carry safe that allows them to store and secure a single handgun anywhere, if necessary. The slim clamshell design measures 2.25 inches high, 10 inches wide and 8.25 inches deep and weighs in at 6 pounds. The outside of the case features a durable, textured black finish. The body is constructed from 16-gauge steel.

The Pistol Vault Portable is secured with a simple key lock for easy accessibility. The interior of the safe features a number of soft, rubberized polymer fingers that cradle the firearm inside of the safe, ensuring that the stored handgun cannot be damaged by movement inside of the unit. As an added safety feature, the fingers are short enough to prevent any interference with the trigger.

The suggested retail price on the Pistol Vault Portable is $75.

The Pistol Vault 900 is constructed from 14-gauge steel and features a 4-button electronic lock that is programmable by the end user and allows for quick and easy access to the safe's contents. The hinged door is secured to the safe body with a pair of locking bolts, while the interior of the safe is illuminated by LED lighting.

The electronic lock runs off eight AA batteries. If the batteries go out, the safe also uses a unique four-sided key for manual opening. The safe also features an additional backup in the form of two electrical contacts that run off a 9V battery, should the AA batteries die and the key is lost.

The overall size of the Pistol Vault 900 is 9.25 inches high, 11 inches wide and 8 inches deep and features a center shelf for organizing safe contents. The exterior of the safe features a durable, textured black finish.

The suggested retail price on the Pistol Vault 900 with an electronic lock is $219. Browning also sells the Pistol Vault 900 equipped with a biometric lock that retails at a suggested price of $319.
