SureFire announced the release of its EDCL1-T flashlight, an upgraded model of the company's popular EB1 Backup light, designed to provide high-output illumination on demand for those in need of a bright tactical light.

The SureFire EDCL1-T flashlight is constructed using an aircraft-grade aluminum body, which is finished with a black hard-anodized finish to enhance ruggedness. The body features knurled, textured control surfaces for extra purchase in damp environments.

The light features a tailcap switch with several modes. For the light's low mode, users simply partially depress the tailcap switch. A full press of the switch activates the light's high-output mode. In these two modes, the light only produces illumination as long as the tailcap switch is depressed. For constant-on operation, users must twist the tailcap.

At the bezel end of the SureFire EDCL1-T flashlight, the company incorporated its Total Internal Reflection lens, which shapes the light beam in a way that's designed to provide total awareness for the user in a low-light environment. The beam strikes a balance between area lighting and distance illumination, providing an all-around, general-use light perfect for daily carry.

Illumination is provided through the company's high-output, white-light LED, which produces 500 lumens of light on its highest setting. On low mode, the light produces 5 lumens, perfect for close-range illumination. The EDCL1-T is powered through the use of a single CR123A battery, which provides a battery life of one hour on its highest setting. In the 5-lumen low mode, battery life measures 45 hours.

The product measures 4.5 inches long and features a bezel diameter of 1.125 inches. With a battery installed, the light weighs 3.3 ounces. In keeping with its daily-carry design, the SureFire EDCL1-T is equipped with a two-way pocket clip that can be carried with the bezel facing up or down.

The suggested retail price on the SureFire EDCL1-T flashlight is $165.
