Silencer Central—which began modestly in 2005 and has grown to become the nation’s largest dealer, distributor and manufacturer of suppressors—is expanding yet again. The company broke ground earlier this month on a new distribution and warehouse center adjacent to the Sioux Falls, SD, headquarters building it opened barely two years ago.

The new 60.000-square-foot facility will be home to the firm’s state-of-the-art inventory and distribution center, as well as provide enhanced research and development infrastructure and an indoor shooting range. It will be next to the company’s 35,000-square foot company headquarters that officially opened in June 2022.

“I am immensely proud of the hard work and dedication of our team,” said Brandon Maddox, Silencer Central CEO. “We recently celebrated a milestone of 100,000 suppressors shipped. Incredibly, by the end of 2024, we will have doubled that by shipping an additional 100,000 units, just this year. I am excited to see what the team can do with the added space and the technology we are building into the facility. In the end, it will greatly benefit our customers, which has been the goal all along—making the process of buying a suppressor simple and easy.”

When complete, the automated warehouse and inventory system will allow Silencer Central to fulfill 2,000 orders per hour. The enhanced precision delivered by the new system also improves compliance with all federal regulations. The company’s research and development efforts will also be headquartered in the new building, where its rapid-prototyping technology will continue to develop new products and harness advances in technology. Relocation of the warehouse and distribution operations frees up roughly 20,000 square feet of space in Silencer Central headquarters, providing much needed room for its growing number of employees.

“When we set out to design the expansion, we knew that the level of technology we wanted and needed would be a first for South Dakota,” Maddox said. “I must admit, too, that I’m excited to see what we can do with the advanced R&D tools we are bringing in. It will allow ideas to go from the sketchpad to a working prototype in a fraction of the time.
