On the heels of Savage Arms' departure from Vista Outdoor in a move that the company is calling, "Savage Bought Savage," the firearm company that's now standing on its own announced the expansion of its popular A17 lineup with a new, semi-automatic rifle chambered in .17 HM2.

Developed by Hornady in 2004, the .17 Hornady Mach 2 is a lightning-fast, rimfire round that's capable of velocities of up to 2,100 fps. This provides rimfire shooters with a flat-shooting bullet that's perfect for varmint hunting or plinking, and Hornady still supplies a solid quantity of this round to enthusiasts across the country.

The delayed-blowback-action used in the A17 17 HMR is replicated in the new offering to support the high pressures of the Mach 2 caliber. This rifle has a free-floating, button-rifled barrel, corrosion-resistant, chrome-plated bolt, bolt release and removable dust cover for improved functionality. Its steel receiver is made to withstand increased pressure and prevent porosity and voids.

Savage Arms A17 .17 HM2 Features

·Semi-Automatic Rimfire Rifle
·Rugged black synthetic stock
·Free-floating, 20-inch barrel
·Carbon Steel Sporter Barrel
·Two-piece Weaver style bases
·10-round Rotary Magazine
·User-adjustable AccuTrigger

The suggested retail price on the Savage Arms A17 in .17 HM2 is $379, and more information on this new rifle can be found at savagearms.com.
