DeSantis has been a fixture in the American holster market for nearly five decades, developing, designing, and manufacturing some of the very best gun holsters that money can buy. They craft their holsters and accessories using only American-premium hides and the toughest synthetics available, and now the newest holster in the DeSantis lineup is the model No. 194, the Variable GRD.

This outside the waistband holster is constructed by the craftsmen at the DeSantis factory in New York using only the highest quality premium saddle leather. The opening of the holster is shaped with external leather reinforcements on both sides to keep the top of the holster stable. This allows for easy one-hand return of the gun to the holster. Like many other DeSantis holsters, this model is both ambidextrous and adjustable by the user for height and cant. The model No. 194 also features the Gunhide Retaining Device (GRD). This feature is an internal component that helps retain the weapon and registers an audible “click” once secured. The GRD also protects against rear takeaway attempts.

The model 194 Variable GRD holster is now available in black and saddle tan, in sizes to fit the following guns:

  • Glock 43, 43X
  • Glock 19, 19 Gen 5, 19X, 45, 23, 32 with or without reflex sights
  • Glock 17, 17 Gen 5, 22, 31 with or without reflex sights
  • Springfield Armory Hellcat, Hellcat OSP
  • SIG Sauer P365, P365 XL, P365 SAS, P365 XL w/ Romeo Zero red dot optics
  • SIG Sauer p320c or P250c, with or without Romeo1 red dot optics
  • Standard 1911 5-inch models from manufacturers like Colt, Smith & Wesson, Ruger, Kimber, Springfield, as well as other common models

MSRP for the Variable GRD holster is $79.99, and more information on this product and other items from DeSantis is available at desantisholster.com.

MIM Myths

Metal-injection molding (MIM) creates complex, durable and reliable metal parts in things we use daily. Its ability to churn out high volumes at reduced cost endeared it to the firearm industry decades ago. Despite that fact, gun companies we asked about the process were tight lipped.
