The .22 LR drought is in the rearview mirror and more of today's ammunition manufacturers are providing increasing amounts of rimfire ammunition at decreased prices compared to just a few years ago. Thanks to this return to equilibrium, .22 LR rifles and handguns are again great training and plinking options for today's firearm enthusiasts. .22 LR AR-15s, in particular, are a low-cost way to brush up on your skills or introduce someone else to the joys of shooting an AR-15.
One of the latest entries into the .22 AR market is the TAC R1 22 rifle from Hammerli. The TAC R1 22 sports a 13-inch free-float M-LOK handguard, folding back-up sights, removable flash hider with 1/2x28 TPI muzzle threads, a minimalist five-position adjustable stock complete with a QD sling point and ergonomic grip. “We are very excited to release this rifle. With Hammerli’s history and culture of making superior rifle products, the TAC R1 22 C combined all the features that customers want in a quality 22 rifle, at an extremely competitive price," said Cody Osborn, marketing manager of Hammerli Arms, Inc. "The TAC R1 22 C is set to be the benchmark in the tactical .22 LR rifle market.” In addition to the all-aluminum handguard and a 1/2x28 TPI pre-installed thread adapter on the barrel that allows for the use of a suppressor or other muzzle device, the TAC R1 22 C also features an adjustable gas system that allows the user to tune the rifle to various loads of ammo by only adjusting one screw. This is ideal for tuning for suppressed use and subsonic loads. The TAC R1 C ships with either a 10 round or 20 round magazine, and 30 round magazines are available. The overall weight of the gun is only 5.6 pounds, unloaded.
The Hammerli TAC R1 C began shipping on May 1st, 2019, and more information is available at Hammerliarms.com.
