New for 2018, the team at RISE Armament has designed an elite, affordable platform for police agencies.
“It’s important to us for officers to be equipped with high-quality, high-performance rifles that are affordable,” said Matt Torres, president of RISE Armament. “They’re putting their lives on the line for us every day, and it’s our duty to use our talents as engineers and machinists to give them the best products possible.”
Before setting out on the actual design and engineering of the 300LE, engineers at RISE Armament sat down with high-level users in law-enforcement, military and competition circles, soliciting input from snipers, SWAT teams, patrol officers, elite instructors and more. Armed with input from these professionals, the team worked to develop a rifle that balanced reliability, accuracy, ease of function and affordability.
The heart of the RISE Armament 300LE rifle is the CB-160 barrel, a match-grade design machined from 416R stainless steel and cut with a .223 Wylde chamber. This chamber design brings together the best of 5.56 NATO and .223 Rem. rifle chambers, allowing the guns to run hotter 5.56 NATO rounds with ease while still being able to take advantage of the enhanced accuracy of match-grade .223 Rem. cartridges.
Complete with a 1:7-inch twist rate and a 1/2-28 TPI threaded muzzle, the barrel is capable of producing sub-MOA accuracy with most factory ammunition on the market, and RISE Armament staff claim they regularly see reliable hits at 600 yards with duty ammo. The muzzle end of the rifle is equipped with RISE's own flash-hider design, which preserves night vision while shooting in low light and also eliminates the "tuning-fork" ring experienced with many flash hiders on the market.
As part of the rifle's direct-impingement operation, the 300LE is outfitted with a mid-length gas system that both reduces felt recoil and minimizes excessive wear on the gun's internal components. Surrounding the barrel and gas tube is the company's LE handguard, measuring 13.5 inches long and offering a continuous Picatinny top rail for iron sights, optics and other accessories. The handguard is also equipped with M-Lok attachment slots.
Inside the rifle's forged-aluminum receiver, RISE Armament added its LE145 drop-in trigger assembly, which is purpose-built to provide a clean, controllable break for use in high-stress situations commonly encountered by law-enforcement officers. Pull weight measures in at 4.5 pounds. Other features found on the rifle include an ambidextrous safety, which can be tuned by end users for either a long or a short throw, a Magpul pistol grip and a CTR adjustable stock. A Vortex Crossfire red-dot optic and iron sights are available at an added charge.
In keeping with the company's mission to outfit law-enforcement agencies with these rifles, RISE Armament is selling the guns to patrol officers and departments alike at specialty pricing. The RISE Armament 300LE will also be available to consumers at a suggested retail price of $1,099.
