For most hunters and shooters, having a high-quality thermal optic has been beyond their budget. However, the new ThermoSight Pro Series from FLIR aims to change that reality.

The new FLIR ThermoSight Pro Series is designed to provide gun owners in the hunting, tactical shooting and law enforcement arenas with an affordable thermal optic that provides plenty of power and performance in a compact package.

The thermal optics in the new series are powered by the company's 12-micron Boson thermal camera core, which is built to provide improved analytics and image processing over other camera cores in the same price range. The core provides a video signal that feeds to a 1280x960 high-definition display.

The new ThermoSight Pro Series is available in three different models. Each model features 320x240 thermal resolution and is designed to incorporate into nearly any hunting or shooting platform, just like a regular riflescope. The optics are all constructed with a body machined from aircraft-grade aluminum alloy. Users have access to built-in video recording and image capture.

The optics are all equipped with Bluetooth and USB connectivity. The internal storage capabilities of the thermal images allow for up to four hours of video recording or 1,000 images to be contained within the device. In addition, the PTS233 model, the first offered in the lineup, comes equipped with new patent-pending High-Visibility technology from the company, designed to provide clean icon and graphics overlay over the background images.

The first new thermal optic launched from FLIR is the ThermoSight Pro PTS233, which features a 19 mm lens, 4x digital zoom and a 12-degree field of view (FOV). The suggested retail price for the new PTS233 is $2,199.

FLIR plans to release two more optics in the line for fourth quarter of 2017. The ThermoSight Pro PTS533 will features a 50 mm lens, 4X digital zoom and a 4.5-degree FOV. The ThermoSight Pro PTS733 features a 75 mm lens, 4X digital zoom and a 3-degree field of view.
