The introduction of the new Compact 1911 pistol from Ed Brown is clear evidence that the company is answering customer requests and acknowledging the exploding popularity of concealed carry.

"It is always exciting to add new models, and the new Compact 1911 really shows our customers that we are working to meet their needs," said John May, sales and marketing director for Ed Brown Products.

The company is known better for its traditional 1911 pistol designs, but the new Compact 1911 features an Officer-size frame that is mated to a 4.25-inch slide and barrel designed to provide shooters with an improved sight radius and enhanced reliability.

The new pistol also comes with a host of available features, including high-quality parts that are completely machined, along with the company's lifetime warranty. As with the company's other 1911 pistols, the Compact 1911 can be customized to fit the end user's needs with an extensive list of build options. One example of an available option is the company's Gen4 coating, which is designed to reduce glare, prevent rust and allow the gun to resist excess wear.

The pistol also comes equipped with a hand-fitted frame and slide which are manufactured from forged components. The grip features front strap and mainspring housing checkering at 25 LPI. The gun also ships with checkered wood-laminate grips, a fixed rear sight and a red fiber-optic front sight. The total weight of the gun, with an empty magazine, is 37 ounces.

The new Ed Brown Compact 1911 pistol starts at a suggested retail price of $2,695.
