FN America announced the launch of the company's next-generation line of modern sporting rifles, featuring a redesigned FN handguard that is M-LOK compatible. Several updated models are available, one of which comes in both 5.56 NATO and .300 BLK.

“The updates made to the FN 15 series focus heavily on the handguard,” said John Keppeler, senior vice president of commercial and law enforcement sales. “We evaluated handguard options on the market and decided that the next evolution of this line would need to outperform our customers’ expectations in terms of fit and finish as well as accuracy. We are confident that these new rifles will do just that.”

The new handguard is made from 6061 aluminum and locks to the upper receiver on top of the barrel and barrel nut. This is accomplished using tightened wedge locks and an anti-rotation pin that eliminates movement between the handguard and the receiver. The rail is further anchored using two screws that anchor into the barrel nut groove. The new design provides "extreme rigidity" and ensures that accessories mounted to the rail's M-LOK system will not suffer any loss in zero, regardless of any pressures applied to the rail.

The new line of rifles from FN will be available by the end of 2016. The FN-15 DMR II retails at a suggested price of $1,999, while the FN-15 Tactical Carbine II in 5.56 NATO and .300 BLK retails at a suggested price of $1,599.
