Savage A22 .22 LR Rimfire Rifle

Savage A22 .22 LR Rimfire Rifle

Savage Arms expanded the popular A Series of rifles with an offering in one of the most popular calibers in America: .22 LR.

The Savage A22 22LR is designed with the same styling, reliability and accuracy found in the company's earlier A17 and A22 Magnum offerings. The rifle is a straight-blowback action made to reliably feed the most common .22 LR ammo offerings found on the market. According to the Savage, company engineers have deemed the A22 22LR's action to be three times more reliable than other semi-automatic rimfires on the market today.

The rifle is fed by the company's proprietary 10-round flush-fit rotary magazine. The internal magazine ensures that the rifle won't hang up on branches and brush when out in the field. However, for those who are less concerned about a snag-free finish and prefer heightened ammo capacity, Savage has teamed up with Butler Creek to offer a 25-round aftermarket magazine for the rifle.

Savage's A22 22LR also features the company's adjustable AccuTrigger, which allows shooters to adjust trigger pull weight to their personal preferences. The gun's button-rifled carbon steel barrel also features the company's thread-in zero-tolerance headspace like that found on Savage's centerfire rifles. The rifle also features a receiver machined from a single billet of case-hardened steel.

The A22 22LR weighs 5.63 pounds and features a total length of 41.5 inches. The rifle comes equipped with iron sights, but it is also drilled and tapped for scope mounts. The Savage A22 22LR retails at a suggested price of $281.
