SIG Sauer added the .223 Rem. to its line of Match-Grade Elite Performance Ammunition, which is designed for optimum performance in both AR-style and bolt-action rifles.

“The .223 Rem. is one the most popular calibers on the market today, and our customers have been asking for it since we entered the ammunition business,” said Dan Powers, president of the SIG SAUER Ammunition Division.  “The accuracy and reliability of our new .223 Rem. Match Grade rifle ammunition make it an ideal choice for precision shooters – whether shooting in competitions or hunting varmints.”

The new .223 Rem. Open Tip Match cartridge includes a 77-grain Sierra MatchKing bullet that features a muzzle velocity of 2,750 feet per second, producing a muzzle energy of 1,293 foot-pounds. SIG Sauer also uses premium primers to keep velocity variations to a minimum. Cartridge cases are also optimized to ensure consistent bullet retention. At the company's state-of-the-art loading facility, engineers use electromechanical measurements to ensure conformity and charge-weight consistency.
