Apex Tactical introduced its new red-anodized Flat-Faced Action Enhancement Trigger that directly replaces the factory trigger in the Smith & Wesson M&P Shield.

The trigger, with the optional Duty/Carry Kit, lessens the trigger pull by about 2 pounds and reduces pre-travel and overtravel length by 20 percent. In addition, the trigger provides a smoother uptake and reset and actually reduces reset length in order to provide for a better shooting experience.

With all of these improvements, the Apex trigger still maintains the factory safety systems found in the M&P Shield system. The flat-faced trigger features a trigger bar that must be depressed before the gun can fire.

The optional Duty/Carry Kit includes a fully machined sear that is designed to reduce trigger-pull weight and overtravel. The striker block works to smooth the trigger uptake and reduces the double-click reset. The springs included in the kit sets the trigger pull weight to about 5 pounds, increases uptake pressure and aids in returning the sear to its ready position in order to maintain the 5-pound pull weight.

The Action Enhancement Trigger is designed for use in 9 mm and .40 S&W Shields and cannot be used in the new M&P Shield 45. The trigger is available exclusively from Brownells and retails at a suggested price of $79.95. Those who want the full Duty/Carry Kit with a trigger, improved sear, striker block and springs can find it at Brownells at a suggested retail price of $159.99.
