New from Crimson Trace, is the Lasersaddle series of visible laser sighting systems for Mossberg shotguns. The Lasersaddle is available in both red and green visible laser versions, though for purposes of this article we’ll be talking specifically about the LS-250G green laser model. From Crimson Trace’s webpage:

“The LS-250G Lasersaddle is a feature-packed laser sighting solution for Mossberg 500, 590, & 590 Shockwave 12-gauge shotguns. Attaching seamlessly to the receiver, the LS-250G provides multiple ambidextrous laser activation pad points for instant targeting with a powerful 5mW green laser. As with all Crimson Trace laser sights, the LS-250G is user-adjustable for windage and elevation. The LS-250G features a master on/off Switch for completely powering down the system. This model provides three hours of battery life with 4 provided CR2016 batteries.”

Crimson Trace had both models available at range day. Activating the laser proved to be very intuitive, and hitting the hanging/swinging target they had proved to be easy while utilizing the laser.

Something of particular interest, and not readily apparent from the pictures/press about the new line of Laser sighting systems from Crimson Trace is their compatibility with already existing side saddle ammo management systems. Since the Lasersaddle mounts from the top of the gun and leaves the left side exposed, those interested in keeping spare ammunition onboard the gun via a side saddle will be able to do so.

Another huge surprise is that if you are still interested in running an optic on your shotgun you will be able to do so. The Lasersaddle is compatible with receiver mounted Mossberg Picatinny rail sections. Mounting a rail in this fashion will of course raise the height of the optic, but should not impede overall function of either the Lasersaddle, or the selected optic. This is welcome news for those who are looking to have flexibility in their sighting systems.
