The National Rifle Association of America (NRA) has announced its support of the sixth annual National Shooting Sports Month— which takes place throughout August. The initiative was created by the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) to encourage participation in the shooting sports and emphasize firearm safety.

“The NRA is once again proud to partner with NSSF to promote and support National Shooting Sports Month,” said Joseph P. De Bergalis Jr., executive director of NRA General Operations. “We implore all NRA members to exercise their Second Amendment rights this month by participating in the shooting sports—whether in competition or for recreational fun. Now is the time to bring a friend or first-time gun owner along to mentor and introduce them to the sports and practice safe, responsible firearm use.”

“Last year’s National Shooting Sports Month was a tremendous success, thanks to hundreds of ranges and retailers across the country reminding people about the fun and excitement of target shooting,” said Zach Snow, NSSF director of Retail & Range Business Development. “We’re thrilled to have NRA join in continuing the celebration of the shooting sports this year.”

Whether you’re an experienced target shooter, a hunter, or a person just becoming interested in acquiring a first firearm and learning how to shoot, NRA and NSSF invite you to head out to the range during National Shooting Sports Month to improve your shooting and firearm safety skills.

NRA and NSSF encourage you to share your National Shooting Sports Month experience on social media and spread the news by using the #LetsGoShooting hashtag.
