CZ-USA improved and upgraded the CZ 457 family of rimfire rifles in 2019 with features that make them easier to use and accessorize than ever before, and the new CZ 457 Pro Varmint Suppressor-Ready packs a great number of “must-have” items in one compact package.
The new 457 models all feature an American-style push-to-fire safety to aid in practice and training with the CZ 457. The new push-to-fire safety mimics the use of the safety on other American-style centerfire and rimfire rifles and reinforces the safety habits learn on other guns. CZ-USA has also tweaked several smaller features on all the CZ 457 line. The actions have been trimmed back nearly one-inch in length, and slab-sided to reduce the footprint and weight of the actions.
CZ-USA changed the 90-degree bolt rotation of previous models in favor of 60-degree rotation, providing more room between bolt handle and scope for easier cycling of rounds and allowing for the use of scopes with larger ocular bell diameters and lower ring heights. The CZ 457 now features a trigger adjustable for weight, creep and overtravel, allowing the trigger to be fine-tuned for each shooter. Despite all these changes, the 457 family retains the same swappable barrel system as the 455 and the same reliable polymer magazine system.
The Pro Varmint has a 16.5-inch heavy barrel that has a 1/2x28 TPI thread for use with a suppressor or other muzzle device. The black-painted laminate stock has features found on much more expensive stocks at a very affordable price. The CZ 457 Pro Varmint Suppressor-Ready, along with the rest of the new 457 family, features a detachable magazine system (5, 10, 25 rounds, with a single-shot adapter available for .22 LR), and a nitride finish that will stand up to hard use. An 11 mm dovetail is milled right into the receiver for ease of optics mounting, and, stocks can be interchanged among the various CZ 457 rimfire rifles to customize the fit to your needs.
