While today's modern sporting rifles often pack some kind of magnified optic or electronic reflex sight atop their rails, owners and operators of these guns shouldn't forget the benefits of having a solid pair of back-up iron sights. For an affordable, solidly built option, the UTG Super Slim iron sights are a great choice for the starter AR-15.

With the launch of the new Super Slim sight lineup, UTG went back to the basics, incorporating many of the classic elements found in traditional irons combined with some modern-day upgrades designed to enhance the ability of the AR owner to get on target quickly and easily.

The front sight is machined from 6061-T6 aircraft-grade aluminum and is treated with a matte-black finish to add durability and reduce glare. The sight also features glare-reducing serrations on the front and rear faces, ensuring that glint from the sunlight doesn't impede your aim or spook game animals downrange.

The front post of the UTG Super Slim AR-15 iron sights uses a standard A2 front-sight post, allowing owners to swap sights posts using a range of aftermarket options. A locking plate secured with the use of a single Torx screw attaches the post to any standard Picatinny rail. Two front sights are offered through the UTG Super Slim lineup, one designed for use on standard handguard rails and one heightened for use on railed gas blocks that sit below the receiver plane.

Built using traditional elements from the standard M16A2 rear sight, the UTG Super Slim Rear Sight, like the front sight, is machined from 6061-T6 aluminum. The sight can be adjusted for both windage and elevation without the use of tools, and two aperture sizes are available for both close- and long-distance shooting.

Both sights are designed to provide the longest possible sight radius, with the front sight sitting on the forward-facing edge of the Picatinny mounting surface and the rear sight sitting on the rearward-facing edge of its mount. This offers the greatest possible distance between the two aiming points, providing increased accuracy when using irons.

The two UTG Super Slim front sights retail at a suggested price of $19.97, while the rear sight retails at a suggested price of $34.97.
