 Taurus 692 Executive Grade

Taurus just recently launched its latest revolver, the new Taurus 692 Executive Grade, a 7 shot .357 Mag./.38 Spl. medium-frame revolver with a ported 3-inch barrel. This new wheelgun recently made its first public debut at the 2024 NRA Annual Meeting held in Dallas, TX.

The Taurus 692 is a medium-frame .357 Mag. revolver similar to the classic Smith & Wesson “L-frame” size guns. As a series, Taurus 692 revolvers have always featured porting in their barrels, so even this special edition Executive Grade includes them. Likewise, the series has shipped with two different revolver cylinders. One is bored out for 9mm cartridges while the other will handle either .38 Spl. or .357 Mag. cartridges. One of the unique features on this revolver is that it has a spring-loaded Q/D button that holds the cylinder in place. When depressed, swapping out the .357 Mag. cylinder for the 9mm cylinder is extremely easy. This spring-loaded button replaces the traditional cylinder screw that needs to be undone with a screwdriver every time in order to release the cylinder.

The 692 is the fourth Taurus revolver model to be included in this relatively new premium product line and like the rest of the Executive Grade revolvers, this one also has a stainless steel stain finish, wooden Altamont stocks and a brass bead front sight. Instead of a normal cardboard box, these also ship in high-end impact resistant and weatherproof polymer padded carrying cases.
