RCBS, one of the most prominent companies in the reloading equipment world is now adding three new die sets to its catalog of full-length rifle dies: the .360 Buckhammer, the 7mm PRC and the .338 Weatherby RPM.

Each of these new sets includes two reloading dies, the first is a full-length re-sizing die which has a built-in expander and decapper (to help remove the spent primer). The second die functions to help seat the bullet. Both dies have industry standard universal 7/8 x 14 inch threads. All die pairs ship in RCBS’ classic green colored box.

These three recent rifle cartridges cover all most of the larger diameter rifle shooting spectrum as new SAAMI approved additions. The precision oriented 7mm PRC is the latest new comer to the extremely popular PRC family that already includes a 6.5mm version and a .30-caliber version. This rifle cartridge family has shown great numbers with flat trajectories that seem to defy the wind.

Though straight walled lever action rifle cartridges have been around since the 19th century, the new and modernly designed .360 Buckhammer is coming in right behind other calibers such as the .350 Legend, a straight walled cartridge optimized for use in AR-15 pattern firearms. Straight wall cartridges like the .360 Buckhammer or .350 Legend are making a comeback due to the fact that several states have modified prior hunting restrictions. While in the past hunters could only take big game with shotguns, the rules have loosened to allow straight walled cartridges as well.

Finally, there are dies for the .338 Weatherby RPM (Rebated Precision Magnum) cartridge. The rebated rim on this round allows for bigger bore rifle performance from smaller actions and uses big bore heavy magnum bullets for hunting the largest North American big game animals including moose, elk and bear.
