Colt CZ Group executed a share purchase agreement on June 28t in which it acquired a 100-percent stake in the Swiss ammunition producer SwissAA Holding. Price of the transaction is not being publicly disclosed, although released financial detail included the fact that the deal was financed from the company’s existing cash resources, including a recent bond issue.

“We are excited about the acquisition of the SwissAA Holding, a highest quality ammunition producer based in Switzerland, which is the partner of the Swiss, Belgian, German and other military and law enforcement customers,” said commented Jan Drahota, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Colt/CZ Group in the announcement. “This acquisition is part of our long-term strategy to grow not only in the small arms segment, but also in related ones, with ammunition being a natural match to our core products. I am certain that the SwissAA Holding’s top-notch R&D and production capabilities will strengthen Colt CZ Group’s opportunities in the Military and Law Enforcement market.”

SwissAA is a producer of ammunition and law enforcement technology, specializing in small-caliber ammunition, specifically 5.56 NATO, 7.62 NATO, 9 mm and .50 BMG, as well as 40 mm grenade launcher ammunition. The holding consists of several 100-percent owned subsidiaries located in Switzerland and Hungary and it also holds several patents for ammunition.

Colt/CZ Group is headquartered in the Czech Republic and has production facilities in the Czech Republic, the United States, Canada and Sweden. It employs more than 2,000 people in across the globe and last month’s acquisition adds to company’s stable of firms that include CZ, CZ-USA, Colt, Colt CZ Defense Solutions, Colt Canada, Dan Wesson Firearms and BRNO Rifles. It also owns 4M Systems, which designs and produces tactical gear, SPUHR I Dalby (optic mounts), EGCZ Academy (a training, competition and event facility being built in France) and CARDAM (a research and development center), as well as Vibrom, which specializes in powder, metal and ceramic powder injection molding.
