Champion Targets and Hoppe’s have renewed their platinum-level sponsorship of the Scholastic Action Shooting Program, which launched in 2012 and has grown to nearly 900 active teams nationwide. The organization provides the opportunity for youths, from grade school to college, for a chance to compete in action shooting sports using .22 rifles and handgun, as well as pistol cartridge carbines and 10-meter air rifle, air pistol and sport pistol.

“We are excited to partner with the Scholastic Action Shooting Program again this year,” said Eliza Graves, Vista Outdoors senior brand marketing manager. “The future of America rests with our youth and educating them in safe shooting principles is of the utmost importance. SASP has been a great partner in promoting and growing the shooting sports over the years. Champion and Hoppe’s products are a natural fit helping these athletes reach the next level.”

Hoppe’s and Champion are both Vista Outdoor brands and the renewed commitment to SASP reflects the company’s philanthropic dedication to support youth shooting sports. The Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation (SSSF) is the 501(c)(3) non-profit public charity responsible for all aspects of SASP, as well as the Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP). SCTP and SASP are youth development programs in which adult coaches and other volunteers use shooting sports to teach and to demonstrate sportsmanship, responsibility, honesty, ethics, integrity, teamwork and other positive life skills.

“We are humbled to see sponsors like Champion and Hoppe’s continue their support of youth shooting sports year after year,” said SASP National Director, Rick Leach. “We are energized by the renewed Platinum Sponsorship for 2021. Champion and Hoppe’s are trusted throughout the shooting sports community and our athletes trust in their suite of products to train and perform at their best throughout the season.”

Students in grades 6 through 12 are eligible for the Intermediate and Senior Divisions in the pistol and rifle disciplines. Those in grade 5 or below can compete in the Rookie Division in the rifle discipline. There is no age limit for full-time students in the Collegiate Division, but athletes must be enrolled and attending an accredited college or university. All SASP participants must be academically eligible to participate in their school’s extracurricular sports program.
