Thin and trim 9 mm pistols are all the rage right now, and Smith & Wesson is expanding the company's range of M&P Shield 2.0 pistol with nine new Performance Center models which include a longer, 4-inch barrel and slides designed from the start to mount a red-dot optics. Smith & Wesson is also shipping the company's first-ever Performance Center M&P Shield M2.0 with an included red-dot sight, delivering cutting-edge performance in an easy-to-conceal package.

Tony Miele, general manager of the Performance Center, said, “With the growing popularity of slide-mounted optics, we wanted to design a slim, concealable, red-dot ready pistol for our consumers.  In our minds, the Performance Center M&P Shield M2.0 felt like a natural fit for development. Featuring a combination of M2.0 and Performance Center enhancements, these new pistols are slim, lightweight, and now red-dot equipped for quick target acquisition and easy concealment.”

The new Performance Center M&P Shield M2.0 pistols feature HI-VIZ front and rear fiber optic sights and a Performance Center-tuned action for a smooth trigger pull. Available in 9 mm, .40 S&W, and .45 ACP, these new pistols include all the M2.0 feature set and are available in multiple configurations:

MIM Myths

Metal-injection molding (MIM) creates complex, durable and reliable metal parts in things we use daily. Its ability to churn out high volumes at reduced cost endeared it to the firearm industry decades ago. Despite that fact, gun companies we asked about the process were tight lipped.
