The National Association of Sporting Goods Wholesalers (NASGW) held its annual expo in Orlando, FL, Oct. 22 to 25, and opening night featured presentation of the organization’s Leadership Awards. Winners are determined by members of the organization who evaluate the performance of manufacturers on four key criteria: distribution policy; marketing, promotions and sales; logistics and operations; and NASGW and industry support.
Ruger received the Firearm Manufacturer of the Year award. “We are honored to be recognized by the NASGW as Firearms Manufacturer of the Year for the thirteenth straight time…,” said Ruger President and CEO Chris Killoy. “To receive these awards on October 22, Ruger Day, makes the honor even greater for our organization.”
The Optics Manufacturer of the Year title went to Leupold. “This is an award that comes straight from our distribution and specialty retail partners—which is something we’re incredibly proud of,” said Bruce Pettet, President and chief executive officer of Leupold. “Repeatedly being named ‘Optics Manufacturer of the Year’ is a true testament to the hard work of everyone on our team, and shows the dedication that Leupold has to its partners, consumers, and the shooting and outdoor industry.” The company has taken the trophy in each of the nine straight years it has been awarded by NASGW.
Ammunition Manufacturer of the Year went to Hornady, another nine-time recipient. “We are honored to be recognized by the NASGW as Ammunition Manufacturer of the Year,” said Jason Hornady, vice president of Hornady. “We are committed to this industry and we would like to thank the NASGW for recognizing the efforts made by Hornady throughout the year to produce and deliver innovative, high-quality products.”
SIG Sauer claimed the Innovator of the Year trophy. “It’s truly an honor to be recognized for innovation by our industry peers at NASGW for the second year in a row with this Leadership Award, and we are looking forward to working closely with our distribution partners to introduce new, exciting products in 2020,” said SIG Sauer Chief Marketing Officer and Executive Vice President of Commercial Sales Tom Taylor.
CZ-USA was named Importer of the Year at the event and Magpul took Accessory Manufacturer of the Year.
