It’s Day Three of SHOT Show 2019, and we’re back on the floor checking out cool guns and gear. Here are five more cool items we found in the Sands Convention Center.
Altamont Glock
The folks at Altamont Company are known for wood handgun grips and rifle stocks, but the company also has a gifted engraver and gunsmith on site. Typically, the recipients of Altamont engraving lean more to the custom 1911 and revolver side, but significant custom work on Glock (and other polymer pistols) is quite possible. Look closely and you’ll see the grip is actually a G10 inlay—it’s pretty intricate work. Obviously, price and delivery will vary on complexity of work and backlog in the shop.
Brownells Optics
Yes, you read that right. Brownells now offers a line of optics in addition to its gunsmithing tools, firearm components, replacement parts and complete firearms. Three models currently comprise the line, with more expected to come. Currently, there’s a Match Precision 3-18x50 mm, a Match Precision 5-25x56 mm and a Retro 4X fixed-power scope that mounts to an AR-15 upper receiver carrying handle. MSRP on the two Match Precision scopes is $995, and the 4X Retro is $299. Delivery is expected some time in Q2.
Stevens by Savage Tactical Shotguns
The line of Stevens tactical shotguns from Savage is revamped for 2019 with new stock and fore-end designs in addition to pistol grips and heat shields. Most-attractive, however, is the pricing: the Security with bead sight retails with an MSRP of $236, while the most-expensive model, the Security with Heat Shield, is $276. All Stevens tactical shotguns have 18.5-inch barrels, dual slide bars and 5-round capacity.
Tactical Walls Safe
We’ve covered a number of Tactical Walls products in the past, and, until now, have caveated the company’s excellent products. The wall mirrors, lamps, tissue boxes and other devices offer excellent “hide in plain sight” concealment, but are not secure storage. The company proved it listens to its customers and delivered the new 1420S Concealment Safe. Available with the same finish options and inset (chalkboard, whiteboard, image, etc.) as the standard mirrors, this safe offers an electronic keypad lock (with key backup) and full steel construction. MSRP is $745, and delivery is the same as the standard mirrors.
Winchester Wildcat
Taking direct aim at the entry level plinker, Winchester released the Wildcat in .22 LR for 2019. Featuring a 10-round rotary magazine with bolt-hold open (and yes, it will also accept Ruger 10/22 magazines), a trigger group that removes easily for cleaning, polymer stock with molded pistol grip and integral ghost-ring sights with Picatinny rail for optics. MSRP is expected to be around the $250 mark, and delivery should happen sometime in Q2 of 2019.
