To stand out in an overcrowded market of AR-15 manufacturers, Phoenix Weaponry offers a number of unique designs, like the company's Christine chambered in .45-70 Auto. Adding to the lineup is the all-new "Jane," built to offer consumers the lightest multi-purpose AR-15 possible without weakening core components by shaving down the receiver or adding skeletonized parts.
"There is no need to skeletonize this rifle," said Aaron Cayce, owner and founder of Phoenix Weaponry. "We designed it to be light and fast."
In the concept phase, the team at Phoenix Weaponry focused on the adaptability of the U.S. military's M4 carbine, which is built to be nimble and versatile, allowing troops to adapt the rifle to suit the needs of any mission. To build on the concept of adaptability, the Phoenix Weaponry Jane weighs in at only 6 pounds and is outfitted to serve as a solid rifle for a range of applications, covering everything from 3-Gun to hunting to home defense.
Jane is built on a receiver set machined from 7075-T6 aluminum forgings. In the finishing phase, the company uses center-line machining to ensure that the internal dimensions of the receiver match up with the center of the barrel and buffer tube, preventing any dragging by the bolt during operation. Attached to the receiver is a 16-inch, M16-profile barrel machined from chrome-moly steel and outfitted with a 1:7-inch twist rate. Barrels are available in both .300 Blackout and 5.56 NATO and are properly headspaced before leaving the factory to ensure a perfect lockup between the bolt and barrel extension. The rifle is equipped with a direct-impingement operating system.
At the muzzle-end of the barrel, consumers will find the company's own Chevron brake design, which incorporates 45-degree angled ports that redirect muzzle gases in order to mitigate felt recoil and prevent muzzle rise from impeding fast follow-up shots. The Phoenix Weaponry Jane is outfitted with Hogue furniture, specifically Hogue's overmolded pistol grip and collapsible buttstock. Each rifle comes standard with a flat-dark-earth coating, but black and OD green are also available. The overall length of the rifle with the stock collapsed is 33.5 inches.
The suggested retail price on the Phoenix Weaponry Jane multi-purpose rifle is $1,199.95. Each rifle ships in an American Mountain Supply Discreet Tactical Case.
