Apex Tactical Specialties recently celebrated reaching the $100,000 mark in its donations to Concerns of Police Survivors (COPS), a non-profit organization dedicated the rebuilding the lives of survivors who have lost a loved one in the line of duty. The funds were generated through the sale of the company’s Thin Blue Line Series of triggers, which were introduced less than a year and a half ago.

“When we first spoke to Concerns of Police Survivors (COPS), we told them we were hoping to be able to make a small but meaningful contribution at the 2017 SHOT Show in Las Vegas,” said Apex Tactical Specialties COO Scott Folk. “But by the time our industry’s trade show arrived, we had already raised $15,000 and were well on our way toward $30,000.”

“Apex’s commitment to the survivors of America’s fallen law enforcement officers is nothing short of amazing,” said Dianne Bernhard, executive director of COPS. “Because of their support, COPS can continue to help these officers’ families and co-workers for as long as they need us. With 140 to 160 officers dying each year on average, our membership has increased to over 47,000 people who have identified themselves as survivors.”

Twenty-five percent of the sale of each Thin Blue Line Series trigger is earmarked for COPS. “We had no way of knowing when we launched the Thin Blue Line Series that these would be so popular with customers,” said Randy Lee, founder and CEO of Apex Tactical Specialties. “Each month, Scott and I would look at the numbers and were amazed at the results. We can’t thank our customers enough for making this possible.”

COPS offers programs for survivors, including the National Police Survivors’ Conference, which is held each May during National Police Week. The organization also offers scholarships and peer-support at the national, state and local levels, a children’s counseling reimbursement program, kids summer camp, retreats, trial and parole support and more.
