Supporting the roll-out of the innovative .224 Valkyrie cartridge, CMMG announced the expansion of its Mk4 rifle lineup to include the CMMG Mk4 DTR2 chambered in .224 Valkyrie. This combines the tried-and-true quality and feature-rich design of CMMG's rifles with the enhanced capability of this new long-range round from Federal Premium.

Engineers at CMMG immediately recognized the benefits associated with the .224 Valkyrie when it launched in December 2017. The team began incorporating the enhanced chambering into the company's lineup with a specially designed Mk4 DTR2 that enables shooters to take full advantage of the increased long-range capability of the round, which is purpose-built to provide 6.5-Creedmoor-level performance out of an AR-15-size cartridge case.

The resulting rifle is tailor-made for long-range shooting, coming equipped with a 24-inch, medium-taper barrel machined from 416 stainless steel and featuring a 1:7-inch rate of twist. The muzzle end is crowned with the company's specially designed SV muzzle brake in order to minimize muzzle rise. To provide enhanced control and finer precision shooting, each CMMG Mk4 DTR2 rifle is equipped with a Geissele SSA two-stage trigger.

Both the upper and lower receivers are machined from 7075-T6 aluminum, and the gun is equipped with the company's RML14 handguard, which features M-Lok accessory-attachment points. Other furniture on the rifle includes a Magpul MOE pistol grip and PRS butt stock, as well as an ambidextrous selector switch and charging handle.

Spec-wise, the CMMG Mk4 DTR2 rifle chambered in .224 Valkyrie measures in at an overall length of 44.5 inches, weighs 9.2 pounds unloaded and ships with a single 10-round magazine. The suggested retail price on the gun is $1,699.95.

In addition to the rifle, CMMG is also offering component parts for the .224 Valkyrie chambering. A complete .224 Valkyrie upper receiver retails at $899.95, while a separate Mk4 lower group, complete with Geissele trigger, ambidextrous safety and Magpul PRS stock, retails for $749.95. A .224 Valkyrie bolt-carrier group is also available from the company for $174.95, and consumers can also purchase a CMMG barreled sub-assembly chambered in the new cartridge for $259.95.
