Launching the Savage Arms MSR-15 Recon Long Range Precision opens up new capabilities from the company's lineup of modern sporting rifles, giving consumers the opportunity to take advantage of several modern long-range cartridges designed for AR-15-size guns.

The new Long Range Precision rifle is constructed on the same receiver design as the company's original Recon MSR and includes the Savage-made M-Lok handguard along with it. However, that's where the similarities stop in the design of the gun. The Long Range Precision is built with an 18-inch barrel that features 1:7-inch twist rate, 5R rifling and a Melonite QPQ finish designed to enhance durability and performance.

In addition to the increased barrel length, the new MSR-15 Recon Long Range Precision is also equipped with an adjustable gas block fitted to a mid-length gas system and a user-adjustable muzzle brake, allowing shooters to fine-tune their platform for comfort and performance. Other features on the new rifle include a Hogue pistol grip, Magpul CTR buttstock and two-stage trigger that ships with a trigger pull weight measuring about 3 pounds.

Consumers can choose the new Long Range Precision model in one of three calibers: .224 Valkyrie, .22 Nosler and 6.8 SPC. All three calibers are noted for their enhanced long-range performance compared to other AR-15-size cartridges, and the new .224 Valkyrie has been developed by Federal Premium specifically to offer unprecedented capabilities at 1,000 yards and beyond.

The overall length of the new rifle measures 35.25 inches with the stock fully collapsed, and the overall weight of the gun is 7.5 pounds unloaded. The rifle ships with a single magazine compatible with each of the calibers offered, providing users with a capacity of 25 rounds. The gun ships with no sights but features a flattop Picatinny rail suitable for optics mounting.

Suggested retail pricing on the Savage Arms MSR-15 Recon Long Range Precision starts at $1,249.
