The first responders we rely on to save lives and the equipment they use aren’t immune to tightening budgets. Those who keep us from harm during the unthinkable—whether it’s a terrorist act, crime on the streets or disaster—need the training and gear to get the job done, and when funds are short, the Sheepdog Survival Fund often rides to the rescue.

The situation hasn’t escaped the notice of 5.11 Tactical, and the company recently donated $20,000 it raised through the sales of its Defender-Flex Pants and Jeans to the non-profit organization. “Always be ready isn’t just a tagline: Our survival depends on it,” said Tim Kennedy, 5.11 brand ambassador. “When the stakes are high, the sheepdogs who protect us deserve the training and equipment that gives them every advantage over the wolves that stalk us all. 5.11 Tactical’s generous donation to the nonprofit Sheepdog Survival Fund gives America’s law enforcement and military a better chance to come home at the end of a tough shift, or a long deployment.”

The Sheepdog Survival Fund is helping underwrite several events this month, including  LEO/Military Training on Sept. 20 and a Sheepdog Response seminar on Sept. 22. Both are being held in New Jersey. The organization heads west in October, with another one focused on law enforcement scheduled for the fourth in Utah. “This donation from 5.11 will make a tremendous impact within our organization,” said Blake Hayes, operations director for the fund. “Tim has been a supporter of ours for many years, and we’re excited to partner with 5.11 now as well. Our missions are similar—to provide the best gear to the people who protect and serve our nation and communities.”
