Optic Overview: Bushnell Enrage Red Dot Sight

One of the newest red-dot optics on the market is the Bushnell Enrage, released at SHOT Show 2017. The Enrage has a number of features that make it a worthy consideration for an AR-15 range red dot.

The Enrage features eight different brightness settings. Other red dots on the market sometimes offer night-vision settings, but Bushnell went a different (and more practical) route with their brightness settings. Every one of the eight settings is visible to the naked eye in daylight, allowing users to dial-in the setting best for their uses.

The first setting produces more of a fine dot rather than a faint brightness setting, allowing for more precision in aiming. The highest setting will grab any shooter's attention and is perfect for close-up work. Adjusting settings can be done through the use of an adjustment dial on the left side of the optic, which also features off settings between each brightness level, ensuring that users are never more than a quick turn away from their ideal setting.

The red dot measures 2 MOA and is viewed through a set of multi-coated lenses for added clarity, and the benefits of the lens coating are noticeable. The edges of the dot, especially on the lower settings are crisp, ensuring that shooters can get on target confidently without worrying about fuzziness or parallax issues.

The Bushnell Enrage also features Bushnell's longest-lasting red-dot battery. The longevity depends on the brightness setting used, but optics of this type typically see a battery life near 50,000 hours if used on a low setting. Other features of the new optic include capped adjustment turrets, as well as an included high-rise mount for use on ARs. The total weight of the Enrage is 9.8 ounces, and the suggested retail price is $239.99.
