Cabot Guns Releases New “South Paw” Left-Handed 1911

Cabot Guns today it is releasing a South Paw S-100 Edition, a fully inverted stainless-steel pistol designed for left-handed shooters. The new gun is a complete mirror-image of the company’s popular 1911 pistol. It features a left-handed ejection port, left-handed thumb safety, left-handed slide stop and left-handed mag release. Cabot is the world’s only producer of left-handed 1911 style handguns.

“Lefties deserve specially-made pistols. For most of their entire lives, they’ve settled for the ‘right’ way of doing things. No more,” said Rob Bianchin, CEO of Cabot Guns. “We took this as a design challenge. Our goal was to produce a true left-handed firearm, re-engineering John Moses Browning’s design to make the end product as if it were originally intended as a left-handed pistol.”

The Cabot team then applied its manufacturing process to producing the S100 South Paw. The company went beyond ambidextrous safeties and reversible magazine releases. It completely inverted the original 1911 design. Every aspect of the weapon was mirrored and tailored for use specifically by left-handed shooters. The precision pays off with an accuracy guarantee of 1.5-inch groupings at 25 yards out of the box.

The S100 South Paw features a reverse-dovetail front sight. This offers the shooter the advantage of a no-drift front sight with superior structural integrity. The front sight is available with white-dot, tritium or gold-dot accent. Cabot dovetails the site from the front of the slide as opposed to staking it from the top, which is common in other guns. With this design, the shooter can make a seamless transition between slide and sight.

Cabot makes the S100 available 416 stainless steel construction as well as with an optional black nitride finish over stainless steel. This adds to durability. The gun has a matte finish. Other features include a 5-inch match grade hand-fit barrel, crown cut and flush fit as well as a polished feed ramp. Highly tactile Trinity stripes and checkering are on rear slide serrations as a trademark Cabot design detail.

Grip options for the S100 South Paw include walnut checkered grips, walnut scallop Fibonacci, ebony Fibonacci and burled desert ironwood. Customers can also get a low-mount, adjustable rear sight and an engraved star at the front of the guide rod are also available. The base price for the South Paw, S100 Edition is $4,045.

The Cabot 1911 is constructed from billet steel with aerospace construction techniques widely respected in the gun industry for setting a new standard in precision tolerances and quality.
