Apex Tactical Specialties expanded its line of aftermarket barrel options with the addition of Apex Grade threaded barrels for 9 mm Smith & Wesson M&P pistols.

The new barrels are available with the popular 1/2-28 thread pattern and are available in 4.25- and 5-inch barrel lengths. The barrels also come in either Semi Drop-In and Gunsmith fit configurations. The Gunsmith fit option requires a trained gunsmith to perform an installation on a specific pistol, while the Semi Drop-In may require minor fitting that can be performed by the user.

The stainless-steel barrels, which feature a 1:10 twist rate, are the result of a four-year project by the company and use a unique barrel geometry to deliver tight groups. According to the company, a 50-yard test with the 5-inch Apex Grade barrel produced a 1.86-inch group. A prior test using a factory S&W barrel produced a 5.21-inch group.

The barrels include a thread protector and retail at a suggested price of $259.95.
