SIG Sauer Ammunition was introduced last year with initial, single-weight bullets for each caliber and the promise of additional weights as the product line matured. For the .45 ACP line, the 200-grain bullet has been joined by a lighter 185-grain counterpart.

With the SIG V-Crown cartridge, this new .45 ACP ammunition has the same stacked, hollowpoint-bullet design, coated brass case and low flash propellant as the extant line, but in a lighter weight. This 185-grain weight allows greater velocity and lower recoil than the heavier bullet, meaning faster followup shots while keeping similar energy at the muzzle.

Given the great performance verified in our testing of SIG Sauer ammunition, this new .45 ACP fodder should function just fine with any modern handgun. Of course, it's always a good idea to test any ammunition you're intending to use for self-defense with its intended firearm, but with the SIG track record behind it, there should be little question about whether it will work or not.

MSRP: $24.67.
