TerraLux Pro-3 Flashlight

In the TerraLux line of Pro flashlights, the Pro-3 is at the high end.

Offering 280 lumens from two AA batteries, the Pro-3 has four different light settings, a maximum run time of 20 hours and is impact- and water-resistant. The beam can be seen as far away as 132 meters (on high power), and the aircraft-grade aluminum housing contains a bezeled head and recessed tail switch.

Cycling through the power settings requires a bit of finesse on the tail switch, but after a few practice cycles it was old hat. The high setting lives up to 280 lumens—at least compared to other flashlights of similar intensities (Fenix PD 30 and TerraLux TT-1), and running on good ol' AA batteries means that finding replacements when they go dead is easier.

I found the Pro-3 to be a little too large for most EDC applications, although certainly not out of the realm of possibility with cargo pants. As a handy light to have around the house, however, it excels—with the three different brightness settings, it's easy to adapt output to match what you need. The included clip and lanyard help to keep it secure in use or in transit.

MSRP: $55.99.
