Weatherby Offers Mark V Accumark, TRR Rifles in .338 Lapua Mag.

Originally designed as an ultra-long-range sniper cartridge for military use, the .338 Lapua Mag. is ideal for shooting out to 1,000 yards. It is a popular round used by NATO forces, and has become a more common choice for big game hunters as well.

"The .338 Lapua Magnum chambering is a natural for our Mark V Accumark and TRR rifles because we design them for shooting that requires pinpoint accuracy at extended ranges," said Mike Schwiebert, Weatherby's marketing manager.

The Mark V Accumark features a hand-laminated, raised-comb Monte Carlo composite stock with a matte gel coat finish and spiderweb accents. Also working to enhance accuracy is a button-rifled, #3 contour (.705 muzzle diameter) chrome moly free-floated fluted barrel with recessed target crown. The 26-inch barrel has a matching Accubrake™ to reduce felt recoil.

Other features for precision shooting are a CNC-machined 6061 T-6 aluminum bedding plate and a factory-tuned, fully adjustable trigger. A Pachmayr Decelerator pad on the buttstock helps soften felt recoil. The rifle's metalwork has a matte bead blasted blued finish.

A part of Weatherby's Threat Response line, the Mark V TRR Custom Magnum rifle has a black composite stock and a free-floated 26-inch #3 contour barrel with recessed target crown. The buttstock is fully adjustable, allowing a "custom fit" to shooter size and shape for greater comfort, control and accuracy.

The TRR Custom Magnum is also equipped with an Accubrake. Shooting precision is further enhanced by the hand-tuned, fully adjustable trigger, which is factory set at three pounds with sear engagement factory set at .008 to .014.

RC stands for Range Certified. Mark V TRR RC rifles are tested at Weatherby's modern indoor range and guaranteed to shoot SUB-MOA (a three-shot group of .99-inch or less) with specified Weatherby factory or premium ammunition. Range technicians test fire each rifle to determine the most accurate load using the Oehler Research 83 Ballistic Imaging System. After testing, the rifle is cleaned and packed with the actual target signed by Ed Weatherby. Each rifle sports a special RC engraved floorplate.

The Mark V TRR RC offers a number of features to maximize accuracy, including a hand-tuned, fully adjustable trigger. The action is hand honed to assure complete lug contact with the receiver. Other key features include a 26-inch Krieger Custom Cut-Rifled #3 contour free-floated barrel and a hand-laminated stock with CNC 6061 T-6 aluminum bedding system. To allow customizing for individual shooters, the three-position buttstock is adjustable for length of pull, drop at heel and cant of the pad. The stock also has a #6 slide for bipod attachment.

Manufacturer's suggested retail prices for Weatherby's .338 Lapua Magnum rifles are $2,300 for the Mark V Accumark, $2,900 for the Mark V TRR and $4,100 for the Mark V TRR RC.
