SIG Sauer expanded its airgun line in 2017 with the addition of the 1911 Spartan BB Pistol, modeled after the same 1911 Spartan centerfire pistol offered by the company.

"Training is a must for all shooters, regardless of skill level, and this new SIG Sauer 1911 Spartan BB Pistol is an effective training tool for beginners and experts alike," said Joseph Huston, vice president and general manager of the SIG Sauer Airgun Division. "Our airguns are an inexpensive alternative to live-fire training for those who want to practice but can’t make it to the range as often as they would like."

The CO2-powered semi-auto pistol features the same unique bronze finish found on the centerfire model, and the slide is engraved with the Greek words, "MOLON LABE," meaning, "Come and Take Them." The grip is also engraved with a Spartan helmet.

The pistol is made with a full-metal slide and frame and features blowback action to give shooters a realistic training simulation. The gun comes with a 16-round magazine that holds 4.5 mm steel BBs. the airgun also fits standard 1911 holsters and features the same weight and controls as a typical 1911.

"The fact that the 1911 Spartan BB Pistol fits in a regular 1911 holster allows shooters to practice drawing in addition to accuracy," Huston said. "Shooting enthusiasts are really embracing SIG Sauer airguns as an additional method of training, and these airguns are also an excellent way to teach beginners firearm safety and how to shoot for the very first time."

The Spartan BB Pistol features a cam loading lever for easy loading of 12-gram CO2 cartridges. The pistol is capable of firing BBs at speeds up to 410 fps, depending on temperature and altitude. The suggested retail price on the BB pistol is $110.99.
