Honored American Veterans Afield (HAVA) announces receipt of a special holiday donation from the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) in support of its mission to assist disabled veterans and injured active duty military in rebuilding their confidence that the best of life is ahead of them despite their disabilities. Participation in active outdoor sports is the HAVA formula in their hunts and family shooting events, and the organization will serve over 1,000 disabled veterans and their family members in 2015.

NSSF, already a major HAVA Sustaining Sponsor, reallocated monies intended to fund a holiday greeting card to members for the second consecutive year in order to further support HAVA's works. This incremental donation will help fund a future HAVA hunts for multiple veterans and contribute to a Family Day event wherein scores of veterans, spouses and their children are treated to a full day of shooting, airsoft and bounce houses, food, celebrities and prizes. HAVA and NSSF are already cooperating on several programs and the industry association's support has substantially assisted HAVA's recent growth.

Tom Taylor, HAVA Chairman noted, "NSSF was an early supporter of the HAVA idea that the shooting sports industry should make a strong statement in support of those American Heroes who have suffered serious injuries in defense of freedom. Their financial support is pivotal for us, but more important is their help in educating our entire industry about the cause. We now are entering our eighth year of existence and NSSF's support is growing steadily."

"HAVA's mission is top of mind particularly during this holiday season, and NSSF is pleased to offer our continuing support to their efforts on behalf of our membership," said Steve Sanetti, NSSF President. "An expanding number of our members are appreciating the positive contribution that the industry is making through HAVA, now our best statement of America's ongoing commitment to those veterans and their families who have given so much. HAVA already is supported by dozens of NSSF's members, and we encourage all of our companies to consider contributing to this most worthy of causes directly. HAVA was started by shooting industry people, and they run it today with a pro-gun, pro-veteran and pro-family focus that speaks to our core values"
