The May issue of Shooting Illustrated, on newsstands now, covers the Beretta/Wilson Combat 92G Brigadier Tactical model. Long known for the company's excellent 1911s and AR-15s, Wilson Combat brings its superior array of accessories and upgrades to the stalwart Beretta 92, now in its 30th year of service with the U.S. Armed Forces. From the rounded trigger guard to the sculpted magazines, Wilson's touch is evident throughout—even the guide rod has been upgraded to include fluting for smoother operation.

While this particular Wilson Combat offering isn't setup for optics, should you be looking at new glass for your firearm, the May issue features a guide to new optics for 2015. From red-dot sights to magnified optics to thermal scopes and even binoculars, this is the go-to source for your optical needs. Two-dozen new optical sights are included in the guide, with specifications including MSRP for all models.

Whether you prefer red-dot sights, riflescopes or even irons, one way to really sharpen your target-acquisition skills is on a hog hunt. These pernicious pigs have wreaked havoc on large swaths of the southern U.S., and finding a venue in which one can reduce the porcine population should be rather easy. Jeff Johnston makes a strong case for using a hog hunt as a great way to test both your gear and your reflexes in a real-world setting. Plus you get bacon.

Both men and women want bacon, but when it comes to getting advice and tutelage on firearms and shooting, women have different likes and dislikes. Barbara Baird talked with six different women in the shooting industry—all with varying backgrounds and experience—about what they look for in the gun shop, on the gun range and in training. In case you were wondering, pink guns weren't on the list…
