Sturgis, SD, may’ve been a sleepy cattle town during the 1800s, but a half-million people will gather at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally between Aug. 2 and 11 and this year many will line up for a chance to get behind high-horsepower machines of a different sort—firearms. A Lucas Oil Outdoor Line-sponsored Mobile Tactics Mobile Shooting Range will be on hand at the annual event, allowing live-fire test drives of 9 mm guns every day beginning at 9 a.m. In addition, 1791 Leather, Bud’s Gun Shop, Devil Dog Arms, Henry Repeating Arms, Kahr Firearms Group, Kel-Tec, Outlaw Ordnance and Sticky Holsters will have products displayed outside the range.
“We are thrilled to be part of the Sturgis Bike Rally this year,” said Lisa Marie Young, business development manager for Lucas Oil Outdoor Line. “We love bringing our products to new crowds and we think Sturgis is a perfect place to introduce our Outdoor Line to a group of consumers already familiar with the quality motorcycle products we offer.”
The 10-day celebration includes food, music and all things motorcycle. The first one took place in 1938 when a group of Indian motorcycle owners organized a race that attracted only nine riders. The Black Hills Classic, as it was then called, subsequently grew in popularity attracting a record crowd of 700,000 in 2015 and today is estimated to generate $800 million in revenue for the rural area annually.
“Kahr Firearms Group is excited to be a part of the Sturgis Bike Rally this year,” said Jodi DePorter, director of marketing at Kahr Firearms Group. “Teaming up with Lucas Oil Outdoor Line and the other vendors is a great way to bring our brand to a group of outdoor enthusiasts and spread our appreciation for the firearms industry.”
Lucas Oil has been producing lubricants and additives for more than three decades and recently launched Lucas Oil Outdoor Line for shooters.
