Glock shipped more than 100,000 G19X pistols—the gunmaker’s commercial version of the sidearm it developed for the U.S. Army Modular Handgun System solicitation—since its introduction at the 2018 SHOT Show in January 2018.

“The Glock 19X is a mix between the Glock G17 and the Glock G19,” Annette Evans explained for Shooting Illustrated when she had a chance to shoot it during the event’s range day. “It gives you the grip length of the Glock G17, so you get full-size capacity and a full-length grip—a big advantage for those of you with hands that are a bit too big and hang over the bottom edge of a compact grip. The slide, however, is the slightly shorter Glock G19 which can be both easier and more comfortable to conceal.”

“The Glock 19X has helped reinvigorate the polymer pistol market,” said Flint Virgets, senior vice president and general manager of Lipsey’s, the nation’s leading wholesale firearms distributor. “Its demand and popularity has exceeded our expectations”

“By combining the standards of high-level performance and reliability with distinctive design enhancements, this pistol offers proven results and delivers maximum efficiency,” said Glock Vice President Josh Dorsey. “These shipping numbers not only validate the earned trust our customers put in Glock, but also, demonstrate Glocks’s proven manufacturing and surface treatment capabilities ensuring the company can deliver pistols in the quality and quantity that our customers demand.”

It’s the first gun from the company to come with a factory-colored slide. The frame is in matching coyote brown and an nPVD coating improves the handgun’s ability to thrive in inclement weather while minimizing corrosion. It’s chambered in 9 mm and magazines have a 17-round capacity. Barrel length is 4.02 inches with 1:9.84-inch polygonal rifling and the pistol tips the scales at just under 25 ounces.
