Finding the right concealed-carry pistol is as much an art form as is it a science. Each firearm is a study in compromise: for every ounce you shed, felt recoil is more harsh. The easier the pistol is to conceal, the harder it gets to shoot it accurately or carry sufficient ammunition. And the smaller calibers pack more rounds into the smaller gun, but at a reduction in the ability to best stop a threat.

Firearms like the SIG Sauer P232 attempt to bridge certain gaps. The all-steel construction means it's slightly heavier than a pistol that employs polymer construction, but it is easier to shoot more accurately. Should you choose a pistol like the P232 as your carry gun or backup, a stout holster will be needed to carry it discreetly.

Enter the Galco Ankle Glove. With steerhide construction, reinforced thumb break, neoprene ankle band with hook-and-loop fastener and sheepskin padding, the Ankle Glove will hold even an all-steel firearm securely and comfortably all day long. Designed to hold the pistol close to the leg for easy concealment, it presents quickly (with practice) and allows a larger gun than you'd expect to be fully hidden all day long.

MSRP: $104.95.

In conjunction with the Ankle Glove holster, the Calf Strap adds extra security and support when carrying a particularly hefty sidearm. Looping around a buckle stitched into the holster itself, the Calf Strap wraps around the leg just over the calf to anchor the unit securely and help prevent unwanted motion or changing position.

MSRP: $22.95.
