Smith & Wesson Inc. has recently announced the launch of three new factory-configured SBR (short, barreled rifles) based on the direct gas impingement Smith & Wesson M&P 15 series of AR-15 pattern rifles and carbines.

The new Smith & Wesson M&P SBR series provides users with more customization options. Key features shared across the three new short, barreled rifle models include a forged, integral trigger guard for enhanced safety, an Armornite finished 11.5 inch-long barrel for more corrosion resistance, a chromed firing pin for dependable ignition and a forward assist for positive chambering. The 11.5-inch 5.56 NATO barrel length has a carbine-length gas system. This setup is a classic barrel and gas system length used in AR-15 pattern SBRs for a long time and provides a balance between dwell time, reliability and maneuverability.

Furniture-wise, two of the models (13622 and 13623), are equipped with a B5 Systems P23 AR-15 pistol grip and a SOPMOD stock, while model 13493 features a Magpul MOE grip and adjustable MOE stock. Depending on your preferred model, additional available features include M&P, Radian, or Troy charging handles, as well as the option of a free-float or fixed handguard with M-Lok capabilities. ‘
