First Look: Sightron PLR Riflescope Series

posted on April 2, 2021

Sightron is launching a new line of optics, the SIII Precision Long-Range (PLR) Riflescope Series designed specifically for long-range competition and target shooting. Models in the lineup include the 8-32x56 mm, 6-24x50 mm,10-50x60 mm and 6-24x50 mm FFP (first image focal plane) scopes.

“We are excited to launch this new riflescope series,” said Mack Matsumoto, President of Sightron. “Our engineers worked hard to improve the precision, function, and cosmetics of the already popular SIII Long Range Series. You will immediately notice the new look, and experience a higher level of precision from the new internal Zero-stop to the Zact-7 Revcoat Plustm multicoating technology that improves light transmission, color and clarity."

The SIII PLR Riflescope Series all feature 30 mm tubes, a new internal zero-stop mechanism and several different illuminated reticle options. The series is designed to provide premium performance long-range target and competition shooting at an affordable price point. All models feature a black satin finish with high visibility markings that allow you to quickly identify your scope’s settings.

The large, oversized tactical knobs are easy to adjust in almost any weather condition and can be reset to zero for consistent shooting. This new internal zero-stop mechanism provides a tactile and audible positive stop for reliable reset to zero. The windage knob is marked for left and right for easier windage adjustments. The dials on the PLR also offer either 1⁄4 MOA or .1 MRAD ultra-precise adjustments.

Sightron created a new Zact-7 Revcoat Plus Enhanced Lens Coating for improved performance, increased light transmission and improved clarity, and the patented ExacTrack Windage and Elevation System is standard on all models. This new system provides super-precise windage and elevation adjustments while maintaining a positive point-of-contact via an internal erector tube.

This reduces or eliminates drift, even when moving between zero to the most extreme adjustments. All reticles in the PLR series are illuminated with a side-mounted 11-position on/off rotary-type dial which uses a single CR2032 battery. The side-mounted focus system has also been redesigned for improved close focus performance and are First Focal Plane reticles. The scopes are also nitrogen-charged for a waterproof and fog proof shooting experience.

MSRP for the SIII PLR line starts at $1,149.99, and more information on other products from Sightron can be found at

Beretta APX A1 Carry

Comfort is a big part of daily carry, and it should be. If packing your favorite handgun feels like you are smuggling a shoebox (or an angry hedgehog), then you will squirm, shift and give away the fact that you are carrying. Hot weather makes it even worse, as light clothing offers less in the way of concealment. When EDC becomes too much of a hassle, some just leave it at home.
