LGL 180 IR/VI dual beam flashlight

Nightstick has just unveiled the new LGL 180, a new tactical light capable of emitting both visible white light and an infrared beam that is meant for use with tactical shotguns or carbines. In addition to beaming out two different types of light, the new Nightstick LGL 180 can also run off two CR 123 batteries or a single 18650 battery, which are very common in the industry for this sort of application and easy to source.

The key to the new Nightstick LGL 180 is the rotating bezel on the light head which allows the operator the ability to switch from the 1,100-lumen beam of visible white light to the 940 nanometer infrared-illumination beam. The bezel also has an off position that the operator can select when not in use. The new LGL 180 makes use of a hybrid dual reflector that helps reflect both infrared and white light accordingly without the need for extra emitters or reflectors. Outwardly, the LGL 180 appears like any other tactical light. The LGL 180 comes as part of a kit which includes a tail cap switch and a six-in-one remote pressure pad switch as well as an RPS Picatinny rail mount.

"Leveraging the success of our LGL160 long gun light and feedback from law enforcement agencies unsatisfied with the performance of existing IR & VIS WML options available elsewhere, our Engineering Team took on the design challenge and delivered,” says Brian Whalen, Nightstick marketing manager for Law Enforcement and Sporting Goods. “The LGL-180-IR’s unique independent reflectors maximize light intensity in both the visible and IR spectrums, without sacrificing one for the other. This uncompromising design, not available until now, gives the operator threat identification and confirmation peace of mind, when life depends on light.”

New Pistol Suppressors for 2025

We hear you (pun intended)! This year, we are reporting manufacturer’s sound-reduction rating where available. Now, not every manufacturer makes that information publicly available, so you’ll see a fair number of “N/As” where no decibel-reduction numbers were provided, but rest assured that, despite what you might think, the noise-reduction rating is one of the least important factors when choosing a new suppressor (more on that in a future article).
