Gemtech new products

Gemtech is rolling out the GVAC, its first Modern Sporting Rifle (MSR) upper chambered in 5.56 NATO. The enhanced BCG and barrel profiles are just the icing on the cake of this unique complete upper receiver. The real star of the show is the gas block, which is enhanced for use with suppressors. Two forward-facing gas ports create a vacuum in the barrel when the round is fired.

Traditionally, suppressed 5.56 NATO rifles create excess gas blow-back into the upper and subsequently, the shooter's face. With the GVAC gas system, as the bullet leaves the barrel the excess gas is forced forward through the suppressor instead of backwards. This leads to significantly reduced gas blow-back while still maintaining reliability and sufficient sound suppression.

The completed upper includes an enhanced bolt-carrier group, a 16-inch nickel-boron coated 1:8-inch twist barrel, a 15-inch Midwest Industries M-Lok rail, and Gemtech's EMT flash hider. The Gemtech GVAC upper is listed with an MSRP of $839.

Also new from Gemtech is the new Abyss 5.56 NATO suppressor.

The durability of the all-new Abyss sets the standard within the heavy use suppressor category. Constructed from stainless steel and titanium components, this suppressor is designed with greater wall thickness, durability and can easily be mounted to barrels through direct-thread standards or through Gemtech’s proprietary flash hider, the ETM (Elite Taper Mount). The Abyss offers full-size suppression with compact, lightweight convenience and is fully rated for both short barrels and full-auto operation. The design of the Abyss allows rounds to pass through while gasses expand into the baffle spaces, lowering pressure, minimizing muzzle flash, and significantly reducing decibels. The Abyss also lessens back pressure by routing gasses forward, away from the shooter for increased comfort and reliability. MSRP for the Abyss suppressor is $849.
