Mossberg 940 Pro Tactical

New from Mossberg is the latest member of the 940 Pro family of 12-gauge shotguns: the optics-ready 940 Pro Tactical 8-shot autoloading shotgun. The 940 Pro Tactical is based on Mossberg’s cleaner-running and redesigned gas-operating system to deliver ease of operation, reliability, adjustability and performance. Some of the new features of the 940 Pro Tactical include an optics-ready receiver, oversized controls, M-Lok compatibility and an adjustable stock, along with an 18.5-inch barrel that has interchangeable chokes.

The 940 Pro Tactical has the same corrosion-resistant internal parts and finishes as the other shotguns in the 940 Pro lineup, including a nickel boron-coated gas piston, magazine tube, hammer and sear. The gas system is compatible with factory-manufactured 2.75- and 3-inch shotshells and provides for faster, more reliable cycling. These improvements add up to a semi-automatic shotgun that can run up to 1,500 rounds between cleanings.

The 940 Pro Tactical is loaded with performance-driven features such as receiver cuts that accept the direct mounting of micro-dot sights which use the Shield RMSc footprint. Mounting the optic directly on the receiver provides for proper eye alignment and faster target acquisition when you shoulder your gun. A cover plate is included for when an optic is not mounted. The receiver of the shotgun is also drilled and tapped if you choose to add a rail-mounted optic. The 18.5-inch barrel has a matte finish and is topped with a fiber optic front sight. The barrel is also threaded for use with interchangeable AccuChoke choke tubes and the gun comes standard with a Cylinder choke tube. The enlarged and beveled loading port, elongated, pinch-free elevator and bright orange anodized follower were all configured for ease of loading, while the knurled, extended charging handle and oversized, ergonomic bolt release lever provide for positive manipulation when loading. The extended magazine tube allows for a 7+1 round capacity with 2.75-inch shells and the barrel clamp features a sling swivel stud plus dual-sided M-Lok compatible-slots for the addition of accessories.

Rounding out features on the 940 Pro Tactical is a user-adjustable length-of-pull synthetic stock with a range of 12.5 to 14.25 inches. The stock is also adjustable for drop at comb and cast with the use of incremental stock shims. Both the stock and fore-end feature Mossberg’s signature aggressive texturing for a secure grip and black matte finish. The synthetic fore-end has a slim profile, and there is also a rear sling swivel stud.

MSRP for the 940 Pro Tactical is $1,120, and for more information on this shotgun or other products from Mossberg, please visit mossberg.com.
