Kriss Kymera

Kriss USA recetnly announced the launch of the new Kymera modular handgun. The Kriss USA Kymera is a hammer-fired traditional double action (DA/SA) 9mm pistol with a design for customization by end users. The Kymera’s grip is designed in so that it can be configured with different modules and inserts to the extent where the end-user is able to tweak the Kymera’s actual grip angle to their own preferences. This allows shooters to leverage their own natural points of aim while also allowing the Kymera to feed from standard magazines. This is a change, as typically there is a correlation between handgun grip angle and magazine it feeds from. In addition to this, the Kriss USA Kymera’s modularity also grants the shooter the ability to change frame sizes and turn their pistol from a full-size to a compact to better suit their mission.

As a modern handgun, the Kymera is optics-ready and uses the Agency Optics System (AOS) mounting from Agency Arms fame. The AOS System consists of a master-pattern cut directly on a handgun’s slide and an assortment of proprietary Agency Arms optics plates that directly mate and secure into the AOS slide cut. AOS plates are designed to anchor more aggressively to the slide cut compared to standard red-dot optics mounting plates.

The Kriss USA Kymera’s core design is evidently based on the venerable CZ-75 action. The CZ-75’s design and action is one of the most timeless 9mm traditional double action handgun designs of the 20th century. This pattern remains one of the most copied and reproduced pistol schemes along with that of Glock Gen3 and 1911 pistols.
