The 5.7x28mm cartridge was a product of the early 1990s requirement for a round that had more penetration and longer range than a conventional pistol cartridge but could still be used in a firearm easily carried by soldiers who worked away from the front lines. Originally designed by FN, this .22-caliber cartridge came to existence after NATO authorities expressed the desire for an alternative to the 9mm round. Belgian engineers applied the same “small caliber, high velocity” concept as the 5.56 NATO rifle cartridge, but in a smaller format.
Each combo pack has 300 rounds of Fiocchi’s Range Dynamics load which features a 40-grain FMJ (Full Metal Jacket) bullet, making it well-suited for high-volume pistol and rifle training. Also included in each combo pack are 100 rounds of either Fiocchi’s Hyperformance self-defense loads or Fiocchi Range Dynamics Subsonic loads. The Hyperformance cartridges are loaded with 40-grain hollowpoint bullets to satisfy the terminal performance requirements of those who use their 5.7x28mm firearm for personal defense or small-game hunting. For those who prefer to use a suppressed firearm, there is a combo pack that includes Fiocchi’s Range Dynamics subsonic 62-grain FMJ round, which reduces the noise from the bullet breaking the sound barrier and lowers the noise associated with shooting your gun.
