The Escort SD-X is now available in either 12 gauge or .410-bore and is part of Hatsan's new Versatile Tactical Shotgun series. This modern sporting shotgun is offered in either all black or FDE Cerakote. A new gas-piston design eliminates the magazine tube that is typically mounted below the barrel of a semi-automatic shotgun. This design reduces the weight and bulk of the gun while taming felt recoil and muzzle rise.

The synthetic polymer lower receiver features an alloy magazine well and Hatsan's patented ThermoDefend forend which absorbs and dissipates heat from the barrel while still offering a comfortable, controlled grip.
The buffer tube absorbs recoil and has a removable buttstock with adjustable cheek piece. The soft rubber pistol grip is also removable and can be replaced with a wide variety of aftermarket options. The bolt is reversible according to the shooter's preference.

There are four Picatinny rail locations on the forend to accommodate multiple accessory mounting options. The 12-gauge model features an 18-inch barrel with removable chokes. The chokes include full and improved cylinder chokes as well as an extended brake that helps tame recoil, especially with heavy shot or slugs. Each shotgun ships with two five-round magazines, and a two-round magazine that can be stored in the buttstock. The shotgun is chambered to accept both 2¾-inch and 3-inch shells.

The .410 model features a 20-inch barrel with an integrated choke suitable for both shot and slugs. The .410 version also ships with two five-round magazines and features a spare three-round magazine that can be stored in the buttstock. The gas-piston operates in the same manner as the 12-gauge version, cycling both standard and magnum loads reliably. In addition to this, the barrels on both shotguns are proof-tested at the factory to ensure quality and durability.

Tech Wisdom: Snakes vs. Patches

My friend and I have a few different handguns we use on a regular basis. Some are for competition, some are for personal defense, some are for casual shooting and I even hunt big game with a handgun.
